Our Formative Years 2016 & 2017
In our first year from March 2016 we were ourselves homeless, making sandwiches and hot drinks and delivering them by hand to the rough sleepers in the various doorways around the Town Centre. This continued for a number of months as our volunteer numbers continued to grow. Over the Christmas period of 2016 and throughout 2017 we managed to seek refuge in local churches where we were able to cook hot, nutritious meals and offer a warm, safe place to socialise and seek help and support. During 2016 and 2017 each year we facilitated the following.
- distributed approx. 2100 snacks/drinks
- Developed our night café service where we have served approx. 3600 meals
- have supplied 1800 emergency food packs for rough sleepers
- have made 200 deliveries of meals/snacks to hostels
- have supplied 2700 sets of toiletries to the homeless and hostels
- have arranged 20 workshop/sessions with schools to raise awareness of homelessness
- have made 500 pickups of food from our supporters
- We contribute to the support of 4 hostels
- In total, between the hostels, outreach and café we support around 350 people per week
