Our Background
Teardrops started in March 2016 when our Founder Shauni Ward and CEO Denise Kelly started an Outreach service after finding gaps in the services provided to the Homeless community during evenings and at weekends. They spent their evenings delivering sandwiches and hot drinks to the rough sleepers in the Town Centre whilst also starting up the registered charity. Once charity status was acquired they started to advertise for volunteers to assist with the running of the Outreach. This continued for many months but the stark realisation was they needed their own premises, such was the need to help, support and assist the people accessing the service of an evening. We continued our Outreach work until we moved into The Hub in July 2018 and since then Teardrops has developed and evolved our services and continue to work in partnership with various multi agencies for example St Helens Council, Merseyside Police, NHS Boroughs Partnership, Drug and Misuse teams, we have support from local businesses, Councillors and MP’s.
We are also supported by a global business, Procter & Gamble (P&G), plus Marks & Spencers (M&S), Tescos, ASDA, Nando’s, Greggs the Bakers, many businesses and the general public in St Helens.
