Teardrops Supporting Your Community have had some really positive news. Thanks to short term funding from the National Lottery Community Fund we have been able to recruit two new positions for the organisation to meet the rise in demand. Although this doesn’t fully meet the demand it supports us through this troubling period until February 2021. We are continuing to seek additional funding to meet the demand and support more people across St Helens and hope we have successful outcomes from those grant applications, without those grants we are concerned we will not be able to meet the demands moving forward.
Hub Worker
We have been able to recruit a new Hub Worker to help us at what is one of our most challenging times. The Hub Worker’s will be on hand to sort through donations, make up food parcels and support service users with things such as fresh clothes, shoes, and essential personal items. Unfortunately we know that in the coming months our service is going to be stretched and having one Hub worker isn’t enough. In addition to this funding we have also been able to recruit another Hub worker – more exciting news to come!
Homeless Prevention Worker
As part of this short six month funding we have managed to recruit a temporary Homeless Prevention Worker who will be supporting not only homeless people but families, single people and couples who are at risk of homelessness. They will support people with things such as:-
- DWP Applications
- Housing applications to social, private, and supported accommodation landlords
- Universal Credit,
- New style ESA, New style JSA
- Work capability questionnaires
- Under One Roof Applications
- PIP forms
- CVs, to help gain employment
- Support people in opening a bank account or Obtaining ID,
- Emergency food packs
- Welfare assistance
- Telephone Advice & Support
- Signposting & referrals to meet individual needs
- Help with GP registration
If you need any advice and support or if you know of someone who need support please call us on 01744 733233 or email us on referral@teardrops.org.uk
This funding is only until the end of Feb 2021 but we are so grateful to the Lottery and all of our supporters.
